The gathered bottles taken from the ocean are shipped to the recycling plant. Then washed to remove the labels, and then dried.
Clean bottles are shredded and washed before the flakes are moulded into small pellets.
The pellets are melted and moulded before being extruded into yarns. These yarns are then treated and turned into fabric.
A QR code in the cap allows its owner to track the entire process and its environmental impact.
The plastic is taken from the Pacific Ocean, just off the coast of China, before then being converted into yarn on land. For more detail on the cap’s journey you can click here to download its Environmental Impact Report.
